This Privacy Policy describes how ZTeraDB collects, uses, and discloses information associated with an identified or identifiable individual (referred to in this Privacy Policy as ‘Personal Data’) and what choices you have around this activity.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. When we refer to ‘ZTeraDB’, we mean SIEBEN RESEARCH PRIVATE LIMITED, as explained in more detail in the ‘Identifying the data controller and processor’ section below.
Applicability of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to ZTeraDB’s online dashboard, productivity tools, platform and services, including the associated desktop applications (collectively, the ‘Services’), zteradb.com and other ZTeraDB websites (collectively, the ‘Websites’) and other interactions (e.g. customer service enquiries, user conferences, etc.) that you may have with ZTeraDB. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, then do not access or use the Services, Websites or any other aspect of ZTeraDB’s business. For the avoidance of doubt, this is the only privacy policy that applies to ZTeraDB.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party applications or software that integrate with the Services through the ZTeraDB platform (‘Third-Party Services’), or any other third-party products, services or businesses who will provide their services under their own terms of service and privacy policy. In addition, a separate agreement governs delivery, access and use of the Services (the ‘Customer Agreement’), including the processing of data such as database instances, databases, schemas, files or other content submitted through Services accounts (collectively, ‘Customer Data’). See the agreement governing your access to your ZTeraDB account and the ZTeraDB Data Privacy for more information about how we handle content and how our customers can control their content through ZTeraDB platform and services. This Privacy Notice also does not apply to any products, services, websites, or content that are offered by third parties or have their own privacy notice. The organisation (e.g. your employer or another entity or person) that entered into the Customer Agreement (the ‘Customer’) controls its instance of the Services (its ‘Database Instances’) and any associated Customer Data. If you have any questions about specific settings and privacy practices, please contact the Customer whose Services you use. If you have received an invitation to join a ZTeraDB but have not yet created an account, you should request assistance from the Customer that sent the invitation.
Information We Collect and Receive
ZTeraDB will collect and receive information through operating the Platform, Services and Websites, and through other interactions with ZTeraDB. Such information will include Customer Data and other information and data (‘Other Information’) in a variety of ways:
- Customer Data: Customers granted access to ZTeraDB by a Customer (‘Authorised Users’) routinely submit Customer Data (such as Database Instance, Databases, schemas or other content submitted through Services accounts) to ZTeraDB when using the Services.
- Other Information: ZTeraDB also collects, generates and/or receives the following categories of Other Information:
- Database instance: To create or update a database, you or our customer (e.g. your employer) supply ZTeraDB instance with instance host name, port number, user name, password, and / or other database instance details.
- Account information: To create or update a account, you or our Customer (e.g. your employer) supply ZTeraDB with an email address, phone number, name, role and/or other account set-up details. In addition, Customers that purchase a ZTeraDB instance Services provide ZTeraDB (or its payment processors) with billing details such as credit card information, banking information and/or a billing address.
- Usage information:
- Services metadata: When an Authorised User interacts with the Services, metadata is generated that provides additional context about the way that an Authorised User uses the Services. For example, ZTeraDB logs the Database Instances, Databases, schemas, features, ZTeraDB query content and links that you view or interact with, the types of files shared and what Third-Party Services are used (if any).
- Log data: As with most websites and technology services delivered over the Internet, our servers automatically collect information when you access or use our Websites or Services and record it in log files. This log data may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the address of the web page that you visited before using the Website or Services, browser type and settings, the date and time that the Services were used, information about browser configuration and plugins, and your language preferences.
- Cookie information: ZTeraDB uses a variety of cookies and similar technologies in our Websites and Services to help us collect Other Information. For more details about how we use these technologies, and your opt-out controls and other options, please visit our Cookie Policy.
- Third-Party Services information: A Customer can choose to permit or restrict Third-Party Services for its database instances, databases or schema and ZTeraDB can receive related data from such Third-Party Services. Typically, Third-Party Services are software or database instances that integrate with our Services, and a Customer can permit its Authorised Users to enable and disable these integrations for its database instances, databases or schemas. ZTeraDB may also develop and offer ZTeraDB such services that connect the Services with a Third-Party Service. Once enabled, the provider of a Third-Party Service may share certain information with ZTeraDB or ZTeraDB may retrieve such information from the Third-Party Service. Authorised Users should check the privacy settings and notices in these Third-Party Services to understand what data may be disclosed to ZTeraDB. When a Third-Party Service is enabled, ZTeraDB is authorised to connect and access Other Information made available to ZTeraDB in accordance with our agreement with the provider of the Third-Party Service and any permission(s) granted by our Customer (including by its Authorised User(s)).
- Contact information: In accordance with the consent process provided by your employer or other third-party API, any contact information that an Authorised User chooses to import is collected when using the Services.
- Third-party data: ZTeraDB may receive data about organisations, industries, lists of companies that are customers, website visitors, marketing campaigns and other matters related to our business from parent corporation(s), affiliates and subsidiaries, our partners or others that we use to make our own information better or more useful. This data may be combined with Other Information that we collect and might include aggregate-level data, such as which IP addresses correspond to postcodes or countries. Or it might be more specific: for example, how well an online marketing or email campaign performed.
- Additional information provided to ZTeraDB: We also receive Other Information when submitted to our Websites or in other ways, such as responses or opinions that you provide if you participate in a focus group, contest, activity or event, feedback that you provide about our products or services, information that you provide if you apply for a job with ZTeraDB, enrol in a certification programme or other educational programme hosted by ZTeraDB or a vendor, request support, interact with our social media accounts or otherwise communicate with ZTeraDB.
Generally, no one is under a statutory or contractual obligation to provide any Customer Data or Other Information (collectively `Information`). However, certain Information is collected automatically and if some Information, such as database instances, databases, schemas setup details, is not provided, we may be unable to provide the Services.
Location of Personal Information
ZTeraDB is located in India, and our affiliated partners are located throughout the world. Depending on the scope of your interactions with ZTeraDB platform and services, your personal information may be stored in or accessed from multiple countries, including the India. Whenever we transfer personal information to other jurisdictions, we will ensure that the information is transferred in accordance with this Privacy Policy and as permitted by applicable data protection laws.
How We Use Personal Information
We use your personal information to operate, provide, and improve ZTeraDB's platform and services. Our purposes include:
- Provide ZTeraDB services: We use your personal information to provide and deliver ZTeraDB platform, services and process transactions related to ZTeraDB platform and services, including registrations, subscriptions, purchases, and payments.
- Measure, Support, and Improve ZTeraDB Platform and services: We use your personal information to measure use of, analyse performance of, fix errors in, provide support for, improve, and develop ZTeraDB platform and services.
- Recommendations and Personalisation: We use your personal information to recommend ZTeraDB platform and services that might be of interest to you, identify your preferences, and personalise your experience with ZTeraDB platform and services.

ZTeraDB platform and services may embed content provided by others or include links to other websites and applications.These companies may collect information about you when you interact with their content or services. We are not responsible for the practices of these companies. Please consult their privacy policies to learn about their data practices.
Retention of Personal Information
We keep your personal information to enable your continued use of ZTeraDB platform and services, for as long as it is required in order to fulfill the relevant purposes described in this Privacy Policy, as may be required by law (including for tax and accounting purposes), or as otherwise communicated to you. How long we retain specific personal information varies depending on the purpose for its use, and we will delete your personal information in accordance with applicable law.
